with 3 comments

On the first anniversary of the destruction of 83-F Model Town Lahore, by a suicide bombing on March 11th 2008, which resulted in loss of life, loss of property and loss of livelihood, a civil litigation process has been initiated against the Government of Pakistan, et alia.

As I have said before, accountability starts at home.
Let it start from my home.

I have sworn alligence to the flag and constitution of the United States of America but under the Pakistan Citizenship Act, 1951 paragraph 14 subclause (3), I also continue to be a citizen of Pakistan in perpetuity. As a tax paying citizen of two different countries, I am obligated to "keep my mouth open" in both countries and speak.

  1. Shahid, as a nosey bugger – do you have a scan of the rest of the complaint? I assume the government has answered already (presuming that the lack of an answer to the complaint would result in a default judgment in your favor) – and if it\’s none of my business just say so.Regards,Daryl

  2. Hi Daryl,I don\’t have the entire text of the complaint scanned at the moment. The court has issued summons to all the defendants and as you are aware of such proceedings, it is going to be a drawn out exercise. We are also in the process of filing a constitutional petition seeking ban on setting up and operation of terrorist investigation cells within residential areas.Regards,Shahid

  3. Got it. Do share if you\’re able to get the entire complaint scanned, I\’m so very curious to see what a relatively complex complaint looks like when crafted by, no doubt, top notch lawyers in Pakistan. Of course both countries are (I think) rooted in UK common law, but American jurisprudence took a turn to towards being more accessable to the public so while the language is the same the legal dialect is diferent. Do you ever miss drinking Scotch from mugs immediately preceeding complete lower body paralysis? Do you remember that time we chugged the better part of a 1/5 of Johnnie Walker Black from coffee mugs?
